The Venturer Company is the newest addition to the 97th Group and consists of youth aged 14-17 years. Venturers differ from other sections within the group as the youth have the opportunity to administer, plan and operate their own Company.

The emphasis of the Venturer program is placed on developing a youth's independence and confidence as they work and complete activities with minimal instruction from the Company's adult Advisor.

The 97th Company focuses on outdoor activities and wilderness exploration. The weekend programs include lessons on trail etiquette, no impact camping, canoe and hiking skills, as well as walk-in camps with minimal equipment.

Previous events have included rock climbing, skeet shooting and canoeing. These activities are designed to prepare the youth for a culminating 7 day camping trip planned for Algonquin Park in late August.
